By BANKSY
found in Southbank, London
Untittled
White and clean
The dress beckons
Do I want to try you on?
Yes, I reckon
You look so pretty
Ironed flat
You fit me like a glove
How about that?
Red and shiny
You glisten from afar
I wish to be a part of you
Your contrast on the tar
When I spare the dime
You laugh and say
"We have have no time,
I must go away"
I smiled
And curtsied
We said our good byes
I reached a hand out to say
"I wish I could fly"
I know what your thinking,
And don't you fret
I think of the balloon everyday, but yet
I still don't miss it
For I know
Everything has its time to go
Oh my lord. this poem is so beautiful! I absolutley love your last line. I feel as if your saying, everything happens for a reason. Lovley!

as soon as i find out who he is
my favorite story about him was when he was in Palestine and asked the guide if there was much security at the Palestinian wall
the guide said no they were gone in the summer
so Banksy proceeded to put up several wonderful stencils just for the awful wall
as he met up with the guide again the guide said oh my god i was kidding guards with huge guns were in both of those watch towers the whole time i didn't think you would actually do it
long live street art
I LOVE BANKSY
ReplyDeleteand i love you
and i love your blog
and even though i'm against poetry,
i really like this poem
it has a sort of she & him thing to it
i don't know if that's what you were going for
maybe not
but i like it.

Banksy is a genius
Have you guys seen Exit Through the Gift Shop? its a movie
Hey guys, Just wondering, are any of you familiar with any real street artists other than BANKSY? Yes he has beautiful stencils with thought provoking political messages, but I think he's loved a bit to much. Save some love for others of the street art community. If your gonna freak out over street art, than there's a bit more than banksy. Not trying to be offensive, but if your offended about anything, go write it on a wall. In the mean time you can check out woostercollective.com for all sorts inspiring and thoughtful graffiti from all over the world. Just trying to spread some artistic diversity here people.

ReplyDeletei'm sorry this comment is long overdue, considering the fact that i am a ruthless, selfish bastard who only enjoys basking in my own blog's comments.
but what i want you to know is that i found this poem one of the best of any student's work i've ever seen...and i've seen a lot of student work. this was absolutely beautiful, and i love how you interpreted "love" from a child's perspective, as someone who loves an inanimate object like a dress. this was simple at first look but as you dig deeper actually becomes much more thought provoking and, although it doesn't sound sincere, very deep. banksy is wonderful and i really liked how you interpreted his complex *controversial* work.
nice work, isabel. (isabelle)
@Rafaele: Yes, my parents are totally into Banksy as well. I have not seen his movie, but i have bought his book of collected works. He is a genius.
ReplyDelete@Max: Thanks max, good to know-thats a great website!
